Event Setup - Discounts & Surcharges
This section of the event set-up enables you to configure discounts and surcharges that will be applied to bookings.
Adding discounts and surcharges
To add a discount, simply click on the "Add discount / surcharge" link and choose to "Add a discount". To add a surcharge, follow the same steps but opt to "Add a surcharge". Follow the three steps "Basic Details", "Attendees and Tickets" and "Configuration" to complete the set-up of your discount or surcharge.
Basic Details
You can choose a title and a code for your discount or surcharge as well as write a brief description about it within this area.
Attendees and Tickets
Here you can specify which ticket and attendee types you wish your discount or surcharge to be applied to by ticking the appropriate ticket and attendee type boxes within the table.
Configuration
Discount and surcharge configuration allows you to specify the following:
- Application - you can choose whether the discount or surcharge will be applied to the total booking cost or one or a combination of accommodation, ticket or session costs.
- Availability - you can specify when the discount or surcharge will be applied, throughout the entire signup period or within a specific date range.
- Value - you can configure the value of the discount or surcharge. You have the option to discount by a percentage or alternatively you can give a set price by selecting "Price override".
- Conditions - allow you to choose whether you wish the discount or surcharge to be applied by the choice of a specific payment type, promotion code or group booking size.
- Restrictions - you have the option to not allow the discount or surcharge to be used in conjunction with any other discount.
Activating or disabling a discount or surcharge
To use a discount or surcharge for your chosen event, you must activate it. Similarly, if you do not wish a discount to be applied then you must de-activate it. To activate or disable a discount or surcharge, simply select your chosen discount/surcharge from the "Discount / surcharges" list and press "Edit status" then opt to "Enable" if you wish to activate it or "Disable" if you wish to de-activate it."
Editing a discount or surcharge
If you wish to edit an existing discount or surcharge, simply select the discount or surcharge that you wish to edit from the "Discount / surcharges" list and then opt to "edit" next to the section of the discount or surcharge that you wish to change. Here you can make any necessary adjustments before re-saving.
Ordering discounts
If you are setting up multiple discounts, you can determine the order that they will be applied to a booking by moving discounts up and down within the "Discounts / Surcharges" list. If you wish for a particular discount to be applied first, simply move it to the top of the list by using the "Up" link.
Deleting a discount or surcharge
To delete a discount or surcharge, simply opt to "Delete" next to the chosen discount or surcharge on the "Discounts / Surcharges" list.
Using the discount / surcharge calculator
This tool allows you to calculate booking costs using discounts, surcharges and your different booking configurations.
Access the calculator by selecting "Use discount / surcharge calculator". Once you have selected your booking configuration, press the "calculate cost" button to show the booking discount calculation.
Please note: You are unable to apply a new discount to an existing booking. Please note that a discount needs to be created before a booking to be applied to that booking.
